Founded by Kimo in 2005, Kimos Rent a Car began by renting cars to friends visiting the island during the water sports season. Through effort, dedication, and the loyalty of our friends and customers, we gradually expanded our car fleet.
As we celebrate nearly two decades of service, our business has grown to serve not only our friends but also many other visitors to Maui. Friendship laid the foundation for our business long ago, and that's why friendliness will always be our priority.
We remain fully committed to our original goal, which is to ensure that Maui visitors feel at home, comfortable, and safe throughout their vacation.

Owner
Meet Kimo — the founder of Kimo’s Rent a Car, who started it all back in 2005 and still runs the show today. Raised on a sailboat, Kimo is as calm and steady as an ocean breeze. When he’s not at the shop, you’ll likely find him fishing or riding the waves — a true ocean lover at heart.
But Kimo isn’t just a business owner. He’s also a husband, a dad, and a master of juggling it all. Sure, there are the occasional rough seas (like waking up to an angry email), but what keeps him going? Our amazing customers who always bring the Aloha spirit.
And around here, he’s not just Kimo. He’s “Kimo, from Kimo’s Rent a Car.” It’s practically his official title!
Administrator
Meet Paula, the backbone behind the scenes at Kimo’s Rent a Car. Not just Kimo’s better half, she’s also the brains of the Billing and Admin department. Some know her as “the wife of Kimo, from Kimo’s Rent a Car,” but maybe the place should have been called “Paula Rent a Car” instead!
When she’s not crunching numbers, you’ll find her on the boat with Kimo—though she’s not exactly thrilled about the fishing part. While everyone’s cheering for the catch, Paula’s the one feeling sorry for the fish. Talk about a fishy situation! She jokes about going vegetarian, but honestly, she loves good food way too much to give it up.
The guys at the shop? They just call her “The Real Boss.”
Manager
Meet Daniel — who started out washing cars years ago and now leads the team as our General Manager.
Dani is more than just a manager — he’s a legend. Loyal and hardworking, he’s never missed a single day of work. But here’s the twist: he’s also a chess champion, always strategizing how to keep everything running smoothly at Kimo’s.
You know you’ve made it when customers mistake you for the boss — and that’s exactly what happens with Dani. Some even call him the “Real Kimo”!
And here’s the fun part: have you ever seen someone so focused that not even five baby chicks hopping on their back can distract them? Check out the video below! Rumor has it, Dani’s a bit of an animal whisperer too. Now that’s dedication!

Meet Paul, our main mechanic extraordinaire with over 30 years of experience keeping cars running smoothly. He’s truly the heartbeat of Kimo’s Rent a Car.
But Paul is more than just a mechanic — he’s a force of nature. Dedicated and passionate, he’s been part of the team for many years, putting his heart and soul into every repair. For Paul, cars aren’t just a job; they’re a passion.
When he’s not working under the hood, you’ll find him riding his bike, camping in the great outdoors, catching waves, or spending quality time with his loyal sidekick, Walter the dog.
They say if you love what you do, you never work a day in your life — and Paul is living proof of that. Whether on the clock or off, he’s always fixing, tinkering, and smiling.
